Blue and Rosey Red.
This
quilt TOP is made with blocks called "Strips that Sizzle" explained in a
book by the same name written by Margaret Miller. First fabric is cut in strips, then sewn in stratas, then cut into blocks. The
blocks are then taken to the design wall and played with until the layout is
pleasing. This is a quilt TOP ready to quilt and it is 57.5" square.
Here is a closeup of the border fabrics. The blues lean toward periwinkle and the reds are rosy.

Blue Kaleidoscope quilt top
This strip pieced Kaleidoscope quilt TOP is 73" square. Several groups of 5 fabrics from light to dark were pieced into stratas, cut into triangles, and then 2 different stratas were used in each block. This quilt leans from periwinkle to true blue to aqua/turquoise. The outside border is an very dark inky blue with roses in a lighter shade of blue.
Primatic Graden quilt top
I have made a large series of Prismatic Garden quilts. That is my original title for my series, not a pattern from anyone else. I sew stratas of 4 fabrics, cut triangles, sew 4 together to make blocks and play with them on the design wall. Sometimes I design specific blocks to make the colors flow. This TOP is 40" square.

Diagonal 4 patches with 9 patch border
There is a quilt in one of Kaffe Fassett's books called Diagonal Madness. This quilt TOP is essentially that quilt but with different size blocks than he used. The quilt top is 63" x 80". The majority of the fabrics are Kaffe fabrics with a few other prints and batiks thrown in. There are a lot of hours in the cutting and construction on this one. SOLD

Small Kaffe log cabin quilt top
The logs in these blocks are 1" finished. The piece measures 42.5" square and all of the fabrics are from the Kaffe fabric collectives. SOLD
Small hand dyed quilt top
This small piece measures 34.25" x 28.75". It is one of a kind because no 2 pieces of hand dyed fabric are alike. I purchased a yard of unique hand dyed fabric from Melody Johnson and sliced it into strips and sewed them together in alternating color groups. I called it Weeping Flag because it resembled a flag and the dye runs made it look like it was weeping. It could be used as a background for applique or just as it is. SOLD

Barn Raising Triangles....
This quilt TOP is made with mostly Kaffe Fassett fabrics with a few Martha Negley and Philip Jacobs triangles. Some of the Kaffe Fassett fabrics are the really old ones from the beginning of his series of fabrics in the early 1990s. Each fabric is used 2 times and there are 140 different fabrics. It measures 57" x 80", a large couch quilt or add borders for a twin size quilt. SOLD
Baskets and 4 patches
This quilt TOP is 57" x 81". It is made of a large variety of batiks that were purchased over the last 5 years. Click on photo for a larger view.
